Three news stuffed into one (Developers, Vista, Wiki)

Hey beloved users, today I have prepared four good news for you.The first one is that we have new developers from Berlin on board, named Alexander and f1fth_freed0m. They already did some good work on the project, fixed some bugs and introduced some features. So, a very warm welcome to you guys, hope that we’ll have a good time coding together.Which leads to the next news, f1fth seems to have found the problem that caused problems running UltraStar Deluxe on Vista computers. Some people reported that USDX is loading on Vista, but doesn’t progress any further. So besides the fact that the various graphic card manufacturers seem to forget about OpenGL support in their drivers, which causes several slow downs or even crashes - there is a hotfix available that should solve at least 99% of the reported Vista problems with UltraStar Deluxe.Tobi even tracked it down further, so read http://trac2.assembla.com/usdx/ticket/6#comment:7 if you have (had) problems with UltraStar Deluxe, this should solve it.Last but not least our new Wiki - Fredz, Canni and various other people already stuffed a lot of information in there. As it’s still in some kind of Beta stage, there are some information holes in which you might trap. This is were we need you, you can participate in many ways - from writing a whole article, translating articles into another language down to correcting typos. Give it a try, and help us to make it a compendium of UltraStar Deluxe :)

    Hi,

Ultrastar is a weekly event at our home. It would be nice if your team can achieve it, to setup new versions with the improvements typed in in the tracker in shorter periods….All people I know and who have ultrastar are hot on new version with better options….

BUt overall… you do of course a great job….in my opinion you have the best variable karaoke system (better than singstar etc.)

Perhaps you can response why it take so long to convert the improvements from the board mady by the people…

    Many thanks!
    GO ON!

Nice to hear that, actually we’re always happy when we get positive feedback in any form. Thank you for that :)
Your question on why it takes so long will be answered in the upcoming news item that I’ll write, cause I think it’s way too much to post it into this comment. Usually I would answer with “when it’s done”, but the thing is - it’s just not satisfying for any of us.

Anyways, thanks for your comment - and I hope I can clear some stuff in the upcoming post..

    Hi mog,

    thanks.
I think one reason is your capability of manpower.
In my opinion the actual Ultrastar Version is the best ever; but it will be the best FORever if you can handle all those many improvement offers.

Another challenge for you is to contact all the best known pages who offer TXT files and then to build up a new database for such txt´s. Then this database could be “THE ONE AND ONLYE DATABASE” ;)

I am intent to see your overall post regarding to my last message from April 18th.

    GO ON !

    Hi guys,

I wanna say “Good Job!” because you guys did very good in developing this open source game. Anyways, I downloaded Ultra star because it looks really fun but it crashes in my Vista. I’m using Home Premium and this link http://trac2.assembla.com/usdx/ticket/6#comment:7 doesn’t work anymore. Pls help, I wanna play this game on my Vista.

    Thanks! More Power! d(^_^)b
